I am in the business for getting a new sound card for the PC.

Any recommendations (I dont need the most expensive one, just a good one below 450$ and best around 150-250$).

I would like to hear which you recommend and why!

Creative X-Fi Platinum should suit your needs for a sound card.

They are in the $200 range at Retail stores, probably less online.

Why this card? Why do you recommend it?

Well, what are your needs? What do you need the sound card for? If it's games, music, then Audigy would be enough. If you need the card for sound editing, composing, voice-over work, then I'd say M-Audio - they've got a wide range of cards to choose from. You may be just fine with Audiophile 2496 or opt for the Delta if you need it's extra channels, breakout boxes etc.
Me? I'm leaning towards Delta 1010LT for it's 2 built-in mic preamps.

But then again, I'm still a noob, when it comes to sound, so let's just wait for one of the Matts to come.
