I've been trolling around this area for awhile, as I've gotten interested in doing some experimentation with film. Can you folks recommend some resources that can get me started on the technical points of film? I'm especially interested in learning about how film cameras work, and the process of eventually getting the film images into my PC to edit. My end goal would be to make DVDs, so no worries about blowing it up for festivals, theatrical distribution, etc. I'm also completely in the dark as to the costs. I've looked at a lot of 16mm film movie cameras on eBay, and they don't seem that expensive, so I assume the expense is in the film itself, processing, transferring, etc. Free Internet resources are best, if available, and book/DVD recommendations are welcome, too.
Many thanks for any direction here.
