Rough Cut of Music Video

This is from footage I shot today. This is a rough frist cut. We will be shooting more footage Saturday & Sunday, to round out the story. I am doing this for that HP contest. Let me know your honest opinions.

This is my first attempt at a music video.

Hey Boda,
cool video. You had some nice shots in there. Allow me to give you just a few suggestions.

1. Diversify your shots. It seems like many of the shots repeat. Try different angles, more interesting locations, lighting setups, etc. I would encourage you to avoid the “proscenium” style of presentation; instead, get “inside” the scene, shot for shot. Ask yourself what is the best position from which to view any given moment. Consider how point of view and the feeling of subjectivity vs. objectivity shifts from moment to moment. This will influence your storyboard design as well as you shooting, and will greatly inform your editing.

2. I noticed your actor had acne. Try to avoid shots where this is very apparent if you can. Sometimes it's hard to avoid. Filters can help such as diffusion, promist etc.

3. Get the main singer to sing the song every now and then. This allows the audience to see the talent doing his work and therefore makes it more interesting.

4. Successful music videos tend to have a storyline. If you can, incorporate an interesting storyline into the video so you don't bore your audience.

Those are the things that stand out the most in my opinion. *It's not bad for a first time rough cut. Music videos are VERY challenging. Good luck!

It was the first day of shooting. I will be shooting him and his girlfriend this weekend to fill ou the story. The song is from a contest that I downloaded, i could have the actor lip sync though, thanks for the idea.

Cool. We haven't completely decided on the song, I may do two, because I shot enough different stuff and we still have more to shoot. It is fun, I liked doing it.

I did a music video as well by the way I'm using my cousin's screen name are we allowed to post it if so I will post the video I also did Miss You by windsor.

I also did the Windsor song, it was the only decent one (the rest was Punk Rock... ugh)
