Hi all,

i thought i was using a reliable dvd authoring software: Sonic ReelDVD. but i've heard (very occasionally) that people had problems in playing out correctly some menus. It never happened in my presence though.

since i've been a dvd production professional for a number of years (using Scenarist), i get pretty annoyed when i hear i'm having problems with the last step of the prod. process, which should be one of my flawless steps!

I could use scenarist, but i'd really avoid that since especially for simple dvd structure it can turn out into a much bigger pain than reelDVD.

I'm aware no software will be 100% compatible in the wide ocean of the dvd players nowadays, but do you guys have recommendations?

I use DVD Studio Pro 2 and have had no problems - that's why I am yet to upgrade it. DVDSP 1.5 was awful by comparison.

It is the only DVD software I have used, but it can do everything. I have demonstrated it to people that had used other programs and they seems pretty impressed by it.

Therefore I would recommend it, but can't really compare it to the competition.

I find scenarist to be the best and most reliable. I have tried adobes, pinnacles, and some other fast DVD product and I always go back to Scenarist.

I have used EncoreDVD since it came out and never encountered any problem in the design and creation of many DVDs, including professional-looking ones with video clips, music clips, animated menus, several language tracks, subtitles and the like.

I found Encore to be remarkably stable and flexible, never had a crash so far. Transcoding AVIs is long (I think), but isn't that the case with all software anyway ?

most reliable for me has been TMPG DVD. but you can't really do many advanced things on it. i also use encore and can make pretty sweet looking dvd's but it crashes on me often. granted i didn't buy my version :D

I hate Sonic. It messes with other DVD burning programs and that makes me and my cat very sad. Encore seems alright although I'm just using the demo (only a few days left and still 2 big projects to complete! Yikes!!)
