hey Mark, could you kindly post some indoor "low~light" shots I would really like to see than, I know it loses light Just wondering if you can get usable footage. If you could try different settings on the DVX to get the cleanest image (noise free) images in these "low~light" test would be much aprreciated.

Oh, yes also some nice footage with lots of shallow DOF would be really nice, i've read good things about the M2 but not seen alot of footages (i.e none) from it.
Thanks in Advanced.

There is some very low light samples (stills) on www.redrockmicro.com/forum now. Look under Micro 35 Sample Footage section. The thread is called XL2/M2 footage.

I've got the M2 up and running and will post info later tonight (Aug 31 pm EST)
So far so good - very robust, professionally designed and assembled.
Very worth the $$$...
Worth the wait.
More later,
cheers!

Mark is it possible to shoot something at night outside with lighting of course. Just a simple basic set up
I hear that they say the M2 doesn't not lose stops as the other adapter do...
Thanks Gary

That thing looks really robust! And it comes with rails too? Would it be possible to shoot hand held with that somehow? What lense is that mounted on there?

I dont like that you have to flip the image. It says on their forum that you lose some rez doing that.

Yea, that would be annoying....

Well, it's no more resolution than you lose from color correction, etc. Just a generation of compression.
I still don't like it, though, since it makes editing a pain.

There should be any loss from a vertical flip. Not if the NLE was written properly. It's not a real image manipualtion, it's just a negative number.
But, maybe none of them were written properly. :)

There is no loss from flipping. The loss comes in when recompressing (i.e., if flipping it and then re-rendering back out to DV).

Hi folks..
I've got my adapter running smoothly now with my non-A DVX...
It's fab. it's as if Redrock customized the design for DVX...
the footage is impressive - very filmic looking.
Gosh, it looks like super-16 at least... my buddy swears it's more 35-ish...
I'm on the road now but will post more info tonight (sept. 1 - pm - EST)
thx

There is no loss from flipping. The loss comes in when recompressing (i.e., if flipping it and then re-rendering back out to DV).
This is just an issue of the byte order and the position of the first pixel to 00. It would not be very difficult to develop a utility that would rearder the bits in realtime while you capture. I imagine the NLE developers have an API so that you could add a check box or a button in the capture dialog box to flip while capturing.

Sincerest apologies - the footage is COMING
Dudes, it's been a busy week for me - I know I know - sorry!
I've worked out a good hand-held solution using a bicycle seatpost (you may wonder but once you see the pic you'll get it - works well)
Need to mount my LCD upside down for filming run and gun.
Also, wideangle adapter on my Nikon 35-105mm zoom helps in tight compositions while preserving the filmic look.
Biggest take home message so far about the redrock? Like, there's no light loss with the adapter. So you can use "slow" zoom SLRs and still get decent results. Of course, the better your cam is in low light, the better - and sure, you'll have to light...
It's definitely not "video" anymore. You have to work like you're shooting film. Tape measures and marks and all....
Cheers!
Mark
P.S. Footage by the end of the long weekend!!!
