Very nicely done. The colors were perfect I think, and I think the amount of light was just right. It added a lot of good aspects to the shot. I wouldnt worry about the video noise, the final shot turned out great. Audio was top-notch as well. What mic setup was used?

Appreciate any comments on composition, lighting, acting etc. Oh, and a quick question - if we throw more light at the shot, will that help alleviate the video noise we've picked up?

Great looking scene, I like the dramatic lighting. Unfortunately the video stops streaming about 10 seconds into it for me.
And yes, adding light will reduce the noise. The XL2 is good in low light but not great. It's best to pump as much light (within reason, of course) into the scene and adjust down your aperature setting from there.
Also work with your gain as well. -3 db with a decent amount of light coming in will reduce your noise.
You will have to experiment.
Make sure you have also checked your NR settings and other menu settings to get the most out of the picture.
Although blacks can always be crushed in post (somtimes this may be preferable as you cannot recover shadow detail once it is crushed in-camera) you may want to drop your master pedal to around -5 and set your black level to press.
All these things will help control noise in the overall image and help to enchance the darkness (black) without introducing noise.
Hope this helps.

Nice one guys - thanks.

Invision - that was the MKH416. We decided to go the expensive route (tough choice!), and I think this Sennheiser is going to give us years of good service. We were surprised by the fact that that it picked up the train a couple of kms in the distance. It fitted the scene nicely but we thought only it would only capture sound directly by the mic? We didn't even hear the train ourselves when shooting!

Pana - and experiment we will. There's so much to consider...thanks for those steps in the right direction.
