User Trouble

Hey, i couldnt find anything on this, but how do I go about putting a photo in my post. I understand the layout Ex:[IMG]value[IMG]: - but its the "value" part I dont get. Do I have to post these photos on a web page in order to put them in my post?

now i just suck, i just signed up for myspace cause i figured i could get free hosting of photos, and then tried the [IMG] + the internet page the photo is on, and it didnt come up in the post, it just came up as a url link
