Predicting the success of a movie only by its preview trailer is either genius or idiotic (most likely the latter). However, I will brave any critsizm from this thread and make a prediction of an upcoming film based soley on its preview trailer. Maybe some of you might like to join in. Here's my submission:
Mirimax's film, The Brothers Grimm, seemed interesting at first, but once I witnessed the Grimm trailer ( viewed here: http://miramax.com/thebrothersgrimm/), I was sorely dissappointed. My two cents are: too much CG, too many cheap jokes(i.e. the lovely son joke), and too much color correcting. Plus, this movie feels flat in my mind's eye.
Now, is my review wrong? Maybe...Maybe not. Time will tell....very soon.

Actually, all you need to do is watch the trailers these days. You get the whole story from them in one to two minutes, saves you from losing the other 88 minutes of your life suffering in the theatre.

Grimm might suck, but it's Gilliam. The last time I saw a Gilliam film in theatres I was in highschool. It could go either way. Gilliam has a pretty good track record too so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.
Now Dukes of Hazard, that looks like a flaming shitstack just from the trailer.. I will never watch that film.

Actually, and VERY unfortunately Gilliam has made it clear on many occassions that "Brothers Grimm" is a paycheck - hopefully so that he can get films like "Don Quixote" off the ground.
It's his first use of CGI and, as always, he had tons of troubles during production from the studios and what not. I guess he wanted Damon to wear some ugly prostetic and he battled the studio on that right from day 1 (obviously the studio won).
So anyhow this may be a disaster but hopefully someone someday will trust this guy enough again to give him freedom to make HIS movie. Rent "Lost in La Mancha" a GREAT doc that's a good example of the bad luck Gilliam has had recently trying to get projects going, it's a must rent for any filmmaker I feel.

Ridiculous how hard it is for Gilliam to get funding. I loved Brasil. I'll check out Lost in La Mancha.

Kyel - I saw the trailer too and think you hit the nail on the head.....

Lol...so true most of the time...
The worst is comedies, when they run out of good jokes before the end of the trailer....!

...pookie, what do you mean suffereing in the theatre? .. i suffere just watching the trailers for some of the junk out there. seriously.. it just makes me groan and shake my head. someone has to sneak into the studios and rip up thier "secret formula" book, and force them to come up with somthing remotely original. granted there are some good ones in there... but they are largely outweighed by the poop ones.
