Hey everyone, check out this little "demo reel" I put together "reel" quick for some guy a while back ago. I actually never got a chance to give it to him If you can give critique on the editing itself rather than the content, because I put it together mostly for editing practice. Most of it is shot on a TRV-70 It's nothing serious and it's not a final version as you would hope. Oh yeah, sorry about the bad compression I'm new to web video.

hmmm
well I liked the flow of it. The cuts went well with the music and also the movements. I liked the timeremapping stuff. But I still have the feeling that as you said you threw it together too quickly. I mean you wanted some critique on the cutting. And when you watch it you don't have the feeling that it follows a path.
I mean cutting is not just about putting one picture next to the other and watch for the rythm. It is also important that the whole peace leads somewhere - the overall impression...
I know it's a demo reel and not a short, but you could still add some structure!
it feels like you captured a cassette and cut it together then you captured the next one and put it together and so on...
well hope that was helpfull :-) and don't take it personel I think youre a good cutter but think more about what you do...

well watched it again and now I discovered structure!
actually it's cut very well so I like it.
problem is the material doesn't look fantastic so your attention isn't up...
maybe you could do some color correction but not that extreme as when he opens the door and everything turns green...

Hey Gabriel
Thanks, I really needed some opinions on it. You are right about the whole capturing a tape thing, I actually already had those parts on an HD but the principle is the same, I did just go from tape to tape. You noticed that part with the opening of the door back and forth, yeah that was terrible, I guess that's what I get for having the exposure on auto. It was just for one guy, so I probably won't go back and color corect, but I will next time because I might use a couple of those shots in my real demo reel. It's important to have some consistancy in color and tones, which I completely missed this time around :) Thanks a lot, I appreciate the comments.
