coffee a pipe flange short nipple and a 45 degree elbow then a long piece of pipe then a tee with a couple of short nipples for handles. Looks good I just completed one my self and am working the bugs out of the crane portion.

Sharp looking dolly - good looking kid!

My daughter (7) already wants to direct. :)

thanks Bigmagic. Now I have to take that riddle you wrote and try to visualize it! lol

Chris, thanks man. They (him and my daughter) love being both in front and behind the camera. Future film makers in the works!

Nice job! Next you need to build a jib to go on that thing!

Great idea for the wheel brackets!
That was the only thing holding me back.

Thanks!

ah cool, thanks Bill. It's an idea that I've seen before, maybe from someone around here or the guy from birth of the cool or something.

John, ya know it! ; )

Dan, thanks dude... I need to search around for some ideas for that because I really want to do a jib!

Well, check out mine. There are 3 crane designs in my book. I recommend the short jib (the "Killer's Kiss Crane") for dolly work. If you can open a jar of peanut butter you can build it. Here's a QuickTime movie:

Click on the "Killer's Kiss Crane". The movie doesn't show this small jibs full range. It goes up to about 8'. My apologies for the crass self promotion!

Coffee, really nice job. I built mine tonight and I love it. Are you using 1" pipe for the track? I am getting the littlelest bit of instability and I wonder if changing the pipe size or adding weight to the dolly would help.

Thanks for sharing and thanks your help.

Home Depot is good but Lowes is the best imo.... hehe

qemart, I'm not sure what size I bought.... I think it's 1 1/2 but I'll check tonight and let you know.
