Gun Shots

I have a realistic airsoft replica of a glock. It has an electronic blowback so the gun cocks back when fired. Is it better to use production gun shot effects to get the lighting, or is it better to do it in post-pro?

and if production is a better idea, what are your suggestions?

The best effect without getting a firearms handling liscense is called a non-gun. It uses an electrical charge to blast a cap so you get the flash. Check around at prop houses.

Otherwise, do it in post. The hardest thing to fake will be the flash spill on the practical elements in the scene.
