Hopefully everyone interested will attend.

For this first meeting the agenda is to basically meet each other and shoot the shit for a little while with other film makers, trade knowledge, DVX tricks/tips. Networking in our position is important because we are the small people but in numbers we can make big things happen.

Oh, and bring a couple bucks to buy something @ the Starbucks. They're kind enough to let us enjoy their space so we should be thoughtful enough to at least buy a water or coffee. :beer:

vicente, you're welcomed to come on out to meet with us this weekend. It's open to all and besides the meet location is only 15 minutes outside of the Holland tunnel.

Across from the General Motors plant? Holy crap, I haven't heard that phrase since Roger & Me. I have no idea how to get to Linden, NJ. I am strictly public transportation. I went to NJ Transit.com and they don't even recognize "West Edgar Road" as a route they service. If anyone knows how to get there, let me know, else I'm out, or advocate moving it next time to the city, say Upper West Side -- by the tunnels -- for you car people.

you'd take the NJTransit train from Penn Station to the Linden station (15 minute ride). Then you can either walk 15 minutes or take a cab for $2 or $3 to the location.

It's really easy to get to.

Glad to know the meeting went well. I was planning to attend the get together with a buddy who is also a DVXuser member, but we are Manhatannites and after some google map searching and talks with the local natives, I was discouraged by my lack of mass transit experience to Jersey (and the sweltering heat today...yeesh!).

I love this idea of meeting with other DVXUsers, but my car-less existence (sans vehicle, you know?) living in NYC compounded by my unfortunate and irrational fear of surface dwelling trains, keeps me relagated to the confines of mostly just Manhattan (and some of Brooklyn.). You guys rock for putting this meeting together and I'll be doing my damndest to attend the next one you announce, but I would like to request a slightly more local NYC location if you are at all considering to relocate.

I think it would encourage others to attend also....okay, really I'm just a selfish lazy b@st@rd and would like to have you guys host it in my living room if my tiny apartment actually had one....but seeing that it doesn't, I'd be willing to take a Metro train or two or (gasp!) a Jersey PATH train to make it to the meeting place! :)

But seriously, it's great what you guys are doing and I hope all involved, including those that attend, help make the meetings as insightful, enjoyable, friendly, and just downright special as the DVXUser website which spawned them. Amen.

Hey man, I offered my services of driving earlier... all I would request is we split the tolls which are 15 bucks total (9 for verazano and 6 for goethals)
But I'm up for taking up to 4 more people from brooklyn (NYC) in my little crappy car.
So if you need a ride, just get your a** down to brooklyn.

And yeah the meet went well... I think this group has a lot of promise... but cofee as the organizer I guess you are by default in charge of setting up the next one...
when do you want to meet (once a month?)???

I was thinking once a month but don't want to set it in stone if there aren't enough people to supprt it. it sucks having 15 guys say yes to something but only 5 show up. don't get me wrong though, our meet went better than I expected but making it a once a month thing might be rough.

I'm going to scout out a few other locations for next month so I'll post something up in about a week or so.

I'm an AA actor, model, writer, producer, director, office peon and husband who lives in Jersey City and works out of NYC. I've just wrapped two shorts in the past two months and have found film-making as a new addiction. I missed the last meet b/c I'm new to this forum, but have a large number of contacts in the numerous communities listed.
