New to the field: ? re lens mount adapter

Thanks. I have acquired two KY-27 3-ccd video cameras and three Canon J18x8.5B3 IRS 1X12 18x lenses. The lenses do not mount to the cameras and I am trying to find the appropriate adapter for the two cameras. I know they exist but so far no success. Can someone advise?

From your posting it looks like you have JVC cameras with a Sony mount and lenses with an Ikegami mount. You have three issues to deal with: mechanical, optical and electronic.

In the Sony vs. Ikegami lens mount battle, Sony won and Ikegami switched from its' mount to the more-popular Sony mount in the early 90's. Wexler Video in Burbank used to make adapters and they sold for around $1,500. This more-or-less took care of the mechanical and optical issues, such as providing the correct back-focus between the lens and the camera. It did have a certain Rube Goldberg quality to it and was intended as a stopgap more than a permanent solution.

Also, the Sony and Ikegami cameras used different lens control electronics and different connectors, some 6-pin, others 12-pin, adding to the expense of adapting the Ikegami lens to the Sony-mount camera.

I hope you got a "deal" because, for all practical purposes, you're out of luck. The cameras are okay but the lenses are close to worthless unless you find someone who owns a 15+ years-old Ikegami that's still in use (doubtful) and needs a lens.

Thanks, Mike.; great advice and I appreciate it. The deal was better than great, it was superb. The lenses are now a non-matter; can you or anyone advise as to what's compatible or recommended for the KY-27?

If you are looking to sell the 3 CANON J18X8.5B3 lenses I am very interested. Using HL-55s so these would work great!
