how practical is it to film with my DVX my 16mm footage and then edit in the NLE? both set at 24fps, how much quality will i lose just shooting a clear white wall witht just the projected 16mm filliing the whole frame?

edit
forgot to mention that its all bw reversal on not industry standard equipment, its all from a bolex so the quality isnt exceptionally high in the first place.

I think much of what you project on the wall is going to depend on the lighting of the projection. I suspect it to be washed out on a white wall. I would look into some projector screens if that is the case...

Let's see what you shot with the bolex!

Why not send it to Roger Evans (www.moviestuff.tv) and let him transfer it with one of his Workprinters? Check his site, but I believe it's $20 per 100' and he does a nice job.

The problem is that you will have a hard time with contrast range. I did that, and shot some stuff with my DVX. There is no strobing or flickering, and that is awesome, but the highlighs blow out if you need detail in the blacks. It gives the material a nice "retro" look. maybe I'll try to shoot the moviola screen. I think it's not as bright as the projector...
