I am Paul A from Glasgow, Scotland (aka PJA Media). My background is in shooting stills photography. I had a passion for photography since I was a kid, and took it up professionally in 2005. Since then I have been producing web content for various US adult websites. I quickly learned after starting in the business, that shooting just stills meant a massive loss in earning potential, as my clients also bought video content, so I ventured into the world of video to supplement the stills shoots. I started off with SD (PAL) Panasonic consumer level cam (shooting on MiniDV tapes), and upgraded this in 2008 to Canon HV-30 (shooting HDV to MiniDV tape). I soon realised that this cam wouldn't cut it when comparing the quality of my content with other producers, so took the plunge in 2009 and invested in a Sony HVR-Z7U - imported it from Hong Kong and had the Sony Centre there modify it so it has dual-firmware - both US and UK based firmwares which I can switch between to get the UK /US frame rate options - comes in handy if you shoot for companies in both the UK and US.

I'm looking just now at building a shoulder mount rig for my camcorder, and thought this place could offer me some good advice. I don't see any forum areas that deal with the Sony HVR-Z7 HDV cams in here but maybe someone can direct me the right way for this.

Anyway, hi to all and hopefully chat at some point,

Paul A
