I took both of these pictures for a high school photo class with a Minolta Maxxum 70 with 28-100mm Lens. The top picture was taken on slide film, and the bottom one taken with b&w film and edited on photoshop.

Hey MacB, is that a model or the real thing?
It looks like you walked in, no?

Just like video the content will always be the most important element... but BOY there is no denying that Canon 20d. I keep seeing pics of totally different subjects from totally different people in various states of lighting and action... and I have never wanted a piece of gear more.
I was totally ready to dump my Canon lenses/flashes in favor of a Nikon... but you guys have convinced me to stick it out for at least one more round. For the handful of incredible 5d pics that have been posted... there's dozens more from the 20d... and it's going to come down to whatever I can afford.

that's the real thing. i blurred the foreground and background to give the impressions that a really long lens was used. it tricks your brain into thinking its a miniature. check this out:

Hey NBC you know what you should do sometime? Post a really good write up on lighting in general. A lot of these guys getting the 35 mm adapters could really use that kind of information. Pictures look great by the way.

I've thought about doing something like that before for my personal website, but lighting is so subjective and everybody shoots differently. There's a lot of stuff going on in my life right now. When things settle down, I may think about doing something like that again.

Here's a photo of large night exterior lighting set-up I lit recently:
http://www.24framefilms.com/oscars-01.jpg
http://www.24framefilms.com/oscars-02.jpg
The lighting order was something like:
12 PAR64s (half, wide; half, narrow)
30 Source Four ETC PAR 575W
30 PAR20 50W household spotlight globes in Home Depot socket/reflectors
2 650W Arri Fresnels
2 Source Four 750W ellipsoidals
4 1200W HMI PARs
Talent keys (not shown):
4 KinoFlo DivaLite400s
(1 650W Arri Fresnel was used for one backlight)
(1 Source Four 750W ellipsoidal was used of the other talent backlight)
Man, that last one is GORGEOUS.
