Alright...
I'm not AE stupid as I've been using it for years with 29.97.
I will be starting the post process very shortly on a 24p project and I can't seem to understand how to set up AE for this frame rate without it looking jerky upon export.
Would someone please give me a step by step on importing and exporting 24p the "right way" in AE. I feel dumb asking...but I'm at my wits end.

If you're bring in 24p footage that was captured at 29.97 and has yet to have pulldown removal then go into AE, import the clip, select it in the proj bin and go to file -> Interpret footage -> Main.
click on Guess 3:2 Pulldown. If this was 24pa then Guess 24pa pulldown.
Create a comp that's 23.976
If you need to go back at to 29.97 then set it to Make the movie. Change render setting to low field first and to add 3:2 pulldown.

Thanx man. Worked like a charm. I've been using motion for some simple things, but this is the first time I've needed to jump back into AE.

Does anyone know how to ramp-slo mo 24P or 30P footage. When I ramp-slo it as is, it gets real choppy. Do I need to convert the same way as you stated above for a ramp slo-mo??

Slow mo (actually I think this is in another section but..)
Make sure to turn on frame blending for the layer and the render.
Without frame blending it selectes the closest calculated frame to use. (2.6 would use frame 3)
Frame blending takes to 2 frames (2 & 3 in the example) and blends 60% or one to %40 of the other.
Note that starting with more frames (higher fps) provides smoother slow motion.
