Hi Old Timers!! Well Im Not That Old(26) But I'm Into This Stuff.
Hey I Own A K3 Camera But I'm Still Scheptical About Its Quality. I Have 2000 Feet Of Vision 2 Ready To Be Used For A Short 13 Min Film I'm Going To Shoot.
I Just Wanna See Some Footage From This Camera(k3). If I Like It, I'll Use It, But If Don't Then I'll Have To Get A Different Camera Or Rent One For 180 A Day( An Arri Sr2, Professional Camera).
If Anyone Knows About A Site Where I Can See Some Footage I'll Appreciate.
Cheers!

We just finished a music video shoot with this camera. Hopefully the footage will be back in a week maybe? I'll post some up for you if you can wait that long.

The K-3 can take good footage, if it works. Quality control was rather suspicious back in the days those were made, so if you get a good one it'll be reliable and run forever. If you don't get a good one, it'll never work right.
The lens is pretty darn sharp; the Zenit lenses were, IIRC, basically Zeiss designs duplicated in Russian optics houses.
The K-3 is noisy noisy noisy, doesn't hold sync, and is spring-wound so you only get a maximum of about 25 seconds per shot. Makes for a nice insert-shot camera, but if you're planning on doing dialogue, the K-3 is totally the wrong choice for that.

I think I remember reading that some b-roll for the doc "trekkies" was shot with a K3, did not stand out against the arri sr main footage. Registration and losing the loop is the main problem with these camera, always shoot a test roll before embarking on a new project. If you are shooting a sound project rent a camera, or find a cameraman with one to help you on the project.

Ropbo, I see your short, greats images. congrats
One question the K-3 is better with bayonet mount or with 42 mm. mount?
people tell that is better with M42 but i donīt know why.... thanks

Hey AVR,
Actually this is not my short. I just found it on the Internet. As for the mount thing, you wanna pick the M42 mount so you can use a variery of different lenses on it.
I got a Peleng 8mm and Super Takumar 50mm.

Oh yeah -- most definitely, definitely get the M42 mount. There are many excellent still-camera lenses that use M42, so you will have a wide variety of lens options with an M42 K-3. I don't think there are any other lenses that use the K-3's bayonet mount. So definitely insist on an M42 version.

It's on it's way to me!! We watched the transfer and coloring via sessionlink last week, and it was being sent out on Wednesday...headed to Pennsylvania from Seattle. I'll post it as soon as I have it! I haven't forgot about it!

So does that mean this more up to date lens would work with the K3's M42 lens mount? (Or any lens new or old with a M42 mount?)

Just about any lens with an M42 mount, but beware of the Pentax Super-Multi-Coated Takumars -- they have a slight modification to the lens mount that makes them unusable on the K-3...
Any lens with a fully-compliant M42 (aka Pentax Screwmount) lens mount would work with the K-3, yes. Pentax Super Takumars will work, just beware the newer/better SMC Takumars. I don't know of any other M42-style lens that gives any problems.
And you can probably find various lens converters, like Nikon-to-M42 or Canon-to-M42 which would let you use other types of lenses as well.
Regardless, if you're looking at a K-3, definitely definitely definitely get the M42 version; it is just a much more versatile mount than the proprietary bayonet version.
