I used the 'classic pro' camera from Pro8mm. You can view information about the camera at www.pro8mm.com. I used VISION 2 250D. I pretty much got the introduction from the trailer jean luc godard made for bande a parte.

The only question I had about the pro8mm tranfer to mini dv is whether the quality suffers since mini DV is limited due to compression? How was the communication with pro8....were they fast with the tranfer?
Maybe I'm completely miss led ....great work jon though and that's awesome that your still keeping it true to film.

Cool looking stuff. I love Super-8. I started out with Super-8, lo' so many years ago.
I just shot some Pro-8 50D, 100T and 500D (Fuji Reala) for a flashback in a Super-16 feature (www.horrorsofwarmovie.com) I shot. They haven't transfered it yet so I don't know how it turned out.
Pro-8 is a hot and miss company. I've seen some great stuff out of them and I've seen some lackluster footage which was not the shooter's fault.

i avoid Pro8mm at all cost. Extremely over-priced and their customer service is atrocious. i've had nothing but problems with their remanufactured cartridges. Their tranfers aren't the best either.
Glad to see some of you are happy with them...but beware.

There customer service is horrible. I probably will never go back to using there film. The camera works great tho. Although its just a Beaulieu with the tags replaced with Pro8mm.

I have been burned by Pro8mm on more than one occasion. The neg film they use for their 16mm and super 8 inventory are untested recans. Because of this, I got wildly different results. Plus their second rate lab and telecine don't help either.
I have recently switched over to Spectra Film because they sell only fresh film with their discounted packages. Now my results are consistent and look much better. They offer all that Pro8 offers with better customer care, quality and price.
If you run into problems with Pro8, give Spectra a try: www.spectrafilmandvideo.com
Good Luck!

I called these guys up awhile back with a few questions about S8 and just got the shittiest customer service ever (The standard today I think). Really just felt like the dude had ZERO time to answer my questions and he was more interested in merely giving me a website address than acutally communicating and helping.
Which is kind of cool that a thousand people read these forums.

If you like to be talked down to and made to feel like a total moronic, idiotic looser....by all means call Pro8mm.
I will absolutely buy nothing from them. Like John said....everytime I called I would get the ruddest service ever. I never like to put down companies, but a call to pro8mm is a wasted call.
Save the aggravation..call Kodak direct. They have the friendliest service and plus the little perks are awesome. I am always getting Kodak T-shirts (which are pretty cool) and tons of film magazines for free.
Also a good place is to go is http://www.k14movies.com. Super nice people

oooh, that's nice - still like the look of super8. Pity Kodak stopped making Kodachrome. Shot a whole lot of it in Vietnam and Cambodia last Christmas - so rich and warm looking. Aaaah.

An answer to your question "Shiloh Arts" ...
There is a huge lose in quality if you go from any film format to mini dv. I have realized that 1st hand. When you have super 8 that goes down to mini dv you dont see too much quality lose. The way to go is to a digital intermediate but seeing is how i'm employed at a movie theater and make 8 bucks an hour that is surly not cost effective. If your going from 35mm to mini dv you will see artifacts in the mini dv footage. Some places do offer a High Def transfer which is still expensive.
