For those of you who do not get DV Magazine, and I highly recommend getting it, this month they have a section on shareware for video & motion graphics. From what they listed here are the free apps:

Director Boards (Mac & PC) - create storyboards
http://homepage.mac.com/directors_notebook/index.html

BBDEMUX (Mac) - Demux MPEG-1 into video and audio tracks
http://sourceforge.net/projects/macbbdemux

Hiqual (Mac) - Makes DV footage playback better on your desktop
http://www.synthetic-ap.com

Irfan View (PC) - Graphics converter
http://www.irfanview.com

iTunes (Mac & PC) - Come on who doesn't know about this?
http://www.itunes.com

VLC Media Player (Mac & PC) - Play just about any media with this player
http://www.videolan.org/vlc

Windows Media Encoder (PC) - Create WMV files
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/9series/encoder/default.asp

Xinema (Mac) - Play Quicktime at full screen, without buying Quicktime Pro
http://www.lightheadsw.com/xinema.php

Hope these help you out.

Try VLC instead. It might do what you want. I've used it ever since (and even before) QT7 came out. It easily handles h.264 mp4 movies.

I wasn't ready to upgrade my damn license yet.

I haven't used the full version, but the free version works great. The full version added a lot more features that would be work the upgrade...

Damn, I wish Xinema worked on windows.

You know, the one flaw with QT7 is that for some reason they havent really insisted on having their pro customers register so that their key code couldnt be circulated, meaning if u know someone with pro, u could just ask for theirs, its under preferences in the menu... If u want i could even give u mine (which i actually found off of limewire). I wont put it here, its a little to public but if u send me a private message saying u want it i'd be happy to give u the code. And for anyone else who might wanna go pro. Believe me, its worth it.
