Wonderful.

Haven't got a clue what to write, have too many writing projects on...but will try and enter. After all, we all like a party. What could go wrong?

Make our threads here or wait for a dedicated forum?

It would be great if this had it's own topic headline so it doesn't get missed in a done-and-over fest forum. Maybe all the other old stuff from fests long done can get moved too. Looking like a junk yard right now. Jus' sayin' is all.

I might try to get something in this. Who can resist a holiday?

Wait until it gets it's own forum. This probably should've been hidden prior to the move.

Til Dec6th - I don't know if I get anything in that time bracket. Not like anything come to mind but the topic is fun and there's no genre requirements which is nice. I will try though.

Think I've got an idea coming to me, with a focus on drug abuse, broken families and unwashed santas....or is that too obvious?!

Week and a bit...hmm, this is going to be pretty unpolished but I accept the challenge!

Now I just need those most important of things: a butt-kicking title and a rad poster.

Chris_Keaton
11-28-2012, 06:28 AM
Do we need more time?

Egg Born Son
11-28-2012, 06:36 AM
I can probably manage it but another week might boost participation. Still leaves a week for reading/judging before christmas.

Chris_Keaton

Okay, I'll change the date to Dec 15th.

Thought i would struggle with this one but, had an idea, and now have a first draft completed - it's ugly but it's a start!

Chris_Keaton

I think I have one, but now I need to the time to write it. Could be a cool one. :)

Has anyone bagsied the title 'White Christmas' yet? I know it's obvious and unoriginal but it fits, but I'm using it if noone else is. Bad Santa meets Trainspotting...

Funny, I just realised the script I'm currently shooting on weekends meets these requirements as well. Except for page length.

I've already trademarked it.

Actually, I'm joking. I've always thought Red Christmas would be a good title though. Most likely for an X-mas themed horror film.

McCarthy based satire/horror?

Beware the reindeer under the bed.

The 64 present question: Are you or have you ever been a member of santas sledteam?

Egg - I won't be after that title. Perosnally, I wouldn't want to use a well known title, even if the script is major league different. However I cold picture a twist in an existing title, like the Red Christmas above, or A Very White Christmas, My White Christmas etc etc

Strange thing is I have a script but can't settle on the title. Normally it's the other way round.

Egg Born Son

I wouldn't use it either but it's derived from dialogue. I generally shy away from the obvious. It's my thing. But sometimes there's a line in a script (pardon the pun) that drops at a moment that makes you think, I don't like it but that's the title. The line is corny but so is the character that delivers it so I'm stuffed. Stuck with a shit title. Bear in mind christmas day is over 100F on a cool day here, even hotter inland (I'm getting a feeling this year's gonna be a bad one) but even that irony is still corny. Funnily enough it has rained on most christmas days that I can recall, these strange big fat raindrops that evaporate before they hit the ground. Usually they reach your head, sometimes your shoulders but never your feet. Seen christmas snow only once on holiday in the UK. It didn't set but we tried to pack in a childhood's worth of snow play. Mostly that involved throwing it at Dad, putting it down his shirt, in his hood, down his pants. Dad doesn't miss snow.

I always knew that Rudolph was a commie double agent.

Has some minor spark of a fancy idea, but I'm not sure if I can do it by deadline. I'm even skeptical that it would work.

Time for the holiday fest threads?

I know someone new to this site who would like to take part but is awaiting directions.May help them step forward

KhamIsk

No idea for this one still, but where's the thread? Makes me feel good - I'm not the only one slacking.

alex whitmer

Fest threads bumped to the bottom, no new thread for the Holiday Fest, and unsure if the date is the 8th or the 15th.

Egg Born Son
12-06-2012, 01:40 PM
The poster says 8th but it's been extended to the 15th.

Sorry, I'll get that fixed. Oh and start your threads here and you may be hosting your scripts yourself. Anyone who can't share their script can send it to me and I'll host it.

I guess put HolidayFest into our titles then to identify them?

Wonderful. Extended date. With all the crazy hubbub this time, I might be able to crank it out.

If this isn't getting it's own forum I say bonus points to anyone who manages to also adhere to the BloodGamesFest requirements in the same script! A Very Bloody Christmas (parody on A Very Brady Christmas) is up for grabs.

OK, December 8th. I'd better get writing!

Have an idea. You guys are fine with the 3 B's right - blasphemy, bestiality, and babes? Because it wouldn't be a party without them.

4 scripts. One won't place.

Egg Born Son

Argh, had to come up with something new at the last minute, realised my script wasn't original. I plagiarised myself, a script I wrote last year for the Christmas filmfest that I never ended up making. I thought the story came rather easily! After listening to a humourous drive program PSA about office parties on the radio today on the way home, I decided to whip a quick script together on the theme - Day After. Concept to completion: 4 hours! Barely time for a proper proof-read, let alone rewrites.

Sorry, I'll get that fixed. Oh and start your threads here and you may be hosting your scripts yourself. Anyone who can't share their script can send it to me and I'll host it.

I'll need to take you up on that, PM me where to send it. Thanks.

I assume a drop box link to the script will satisfy. Will try and get mine up today.

I found out yesterday that you can embed a pdf in a post. :)

I found out today I got the deadline wrong and missed out on a day of editing :(

KhamIsk
12-15-2012, 03:38 AM
What if we don't vote on those but just help each other, then take them down and submit elsewhere?

Egg Born Son
12-15-2012, 04:05 AM
I'm easy either way. A deadline is a deadline. Better to mess up and submit early than late! :)

I have some family obligations today that are going to keep me from finishing, but have an idea (and a few scenes) that I'm liking. I'll try to get it finished up and post it for people to read and enjoy here in the next day or so.

Chris_Keaton

Don't worry, there aren't any prizes. I'm sure we'd like to read what you've got.

Sorry folks. I've been laid up, but I will get to reviews. How about we call this thing a wrap on the 1st? Then we can see what the new year brings.

Chris_Keaton

So that's it really. The end of 2012 and hopefully a start of a prosperous 2013.

I say we try new things in 2013!
I'm thinking of submitting a script in Russian to the next one and see what happens. It doesn't say I can't in the rules!
