The movie was written, shot and edited in only 3 hours! Btw: The stuff was shot at night and edited with pinnacle studio 9.... then cc with sony vegas 4.

Why are people so infatuated with writing, shooting and editing in like 4-5 hours and then proud of their crappy unplanned work?
Are they too afraid to get critiqued on something that actually takes a little blood sweat and tears?
Low low standards, what's this world coming to?
Ps: I like the last grab, kinda? Love always
Give me call when you spent 8-12 months on your script, another 5 planning and another 5 shooting/editing. I'll surely buy a ticket!

I'm a 17 yrs old guy from a small country called Slovenija situated between Italy and Hungary... I've directed DIP just for testing my brand new camera (the vx2100e)... and I'm not proud of that movie... but thanks to it and to many other short movies I've made in the past 3 yrs I've been accepted (like only 11 guys from all over the europe) to the European Film Accademy in Cinecittą (Rome)... o yeah... btw... I've written 3 scripts in the past 2 yrs (but I ain't got the money to shoot them... and the permits... we were almost arrested for shooting D.I.P. .....)... worked for the Unesco, European Union and the Slovenian National Tv as a freelance.... that's all... If you wanna see the movie give me your e-mail address....
See ya!

and btw: we usually don't have 5 months for planning a movie and another 5 for shooting and editing... I think most of the users of this forum have a job and a family... so they don't spend their lives sitting on a couch and thinking about a fucking short movie for 5 months... and then shoot it in another 2 and a half... do you know that ''The Little Shop Of Horrors'' was shot in only two days??? For me is a great movie, maybe too retro'...and it's not a crappy film just because they didn't have the time (and the money) to shoot it in peace....

There's this myth about shooting time, planning, etc -- that it must take several months, etc. Well, some of the best films were written and shot in days (The Idiots, 40 Guns, etc), so this aspect of busting one's ass for several months which would equate to enough time for success and vision is a smokescreen. Everything in film depends on the captain of the ship and his or her way of working.

Plus with video, who plans out everything? This is a democracy now!

Amelie: Well thought out, well written, well cast, well rehearsed, well shot, well edited, well done...well, I'm done.
Vincent, I apologize for my harsh opinion but sometimes the truth needs to be said.
Maybe you'll think of this post before making one last revision on a short film.
Maybe this post will irratate you and you'll do one more take just to make sure.
Most of the world has low reality tv sheepish standards, I don't. Just trying to inspire you bro.
Congradulation on your acceptance to Film School, I tip my hat. Love always, but truth too..

You're comparing Amelie to a short film shot on DV? Are you serious? And basing this huge criticism on a couple of grabs posted?

And you say you're trying to irritate him into having higher production standards when he's shooting in a country that won't allow him to have a big overblown three month Hollywood production.

I know the point you're trying to make, but it came across as being pretty obnoxious. I think there are better ways to inspire...

kprince, that was a bit harsh man.

First things first, we're all learning here, and the more we produce things, the more we learn to become the filmmakers that produce movies like Amelie. It's all a learning process and you can't bash someone for going out and shooting something (haven't seen any of your work) and becoming a better storyteller.

show me some of your work that equals Amelie, then I'll shut my mouth
