Hi guys - Happy New Year to all... ;D :D :)

http://www.warrenfilm.com/koopa.htm

This video was shot just before xmas and is at the first cut stage. It has no colour correction or effects yet. SHot on a DVX100a with mini35 and Zeiss lens'.

One thing that we did find was that there is a luminace drop off at the edges of the frame...

The band are called Koopa and have recently been signed in the UK. There single is due out in March.

What do you think to the cut so far? Any feedback?

Cheers!

niceone but why does the drummer have in one shot red shirt and in another one black?? I assume it was supposed to appear as if it was all shot in one place at one time. :)

Keep up good work.

Cheers Michal.

The change of shirts was part of a costume change that all the band members went through. I didn't want them to all be the same throughout the whole video. There are other elements to be added still - effects - that will add to the overall look and the different look of each member.

Thanks for your feedback though.

;D

Excellent stuff! Good song too. Maybe you could consider mixing some outside footage in with it to break it up a bit. Apart from that it looks great. Can't wait to see the finished version!

Thanks for your positive words LloydC and Hienben.

The second part of the shoot is taking place this weekend in London. We are blue screening some elements for additional shots in a 3D environment that will be cut in to the live footage. This will provide a break-up of the studio stuff and add an extra dimension to the video. I will post complete video once finished.

Cheers all so far.

Nice work Wozy,
First off, cool band, are they big in England? Did you shoot on a cyc or what was your location? Also, what was your lighting setup and also your camera settings if you wouldn't mind enlightening us. :)

Thanks,

John

Cool video and nicely shot. I like the clean setup with the white room. Places attention on the band rather than the surroundings. Good mix of shots but needs a few cuts that break it up. I think that's what you are planning from your later comments.

Only nitpick is that in a couple of the shots the band looks bored. Not sure if that's something you/they want to show. Especially with a faster song.

Very nice....Makes me want to go downstairs and knock on the door behind wich some band practices and offer to do a music video....Only troube is they sing that grunge stuff and I'm not exposing my DVX to that, maybe when it's older.

Raptor3400 - The band have only just been signed and this is the video for their first single - due out in March. Video release for end of January.

The studio had a three wall infinite cove - all white which was what we were looking for. I think that with hind site, we would have gone for a bigger studio but the budget really didnt go with a larger space.

The lighting was really quite simple. 6 1k Cans overhead; 2 5k behind camera; some 2k fills around the side and lots of flagging; and white and black polly board. We eneded up with a real nice overall finish with the lighting. I was very pleased.

The camera was the DVX100a with mini35 and set of Zeiss primes. 15, 25, 35, 55, and 75 I beleive. All provided by Panavision in London. The camera Op setup the camera, which was on 25P thin with MP at -1, I think. Exposure for most of the shots was between 2.0 and 2.8 giving us a good depth of field. Although there was some considerable luminance drop off at the edges of frame which will need fixing in post - Dohhh!!!

Also thanks Wesley, Hans and Mino for you feedback. I will be posting the completed video probably at end of Jan.

Keep the feedback coming guys.

Cheers!

They already sound exactly like them, why look like them too?

The video looks pretty good! I like the dof you got (although you did have the help of the mini35) ;). Good job, I like the white room, lighting, etc. My only drawback is that I think it looks really bad when drummers look into the camera like he kept doing. Drummers look cool when they're in their own little world. He kept looking at it as if he was conscious of it. Also, sorry but I think the band sounds/looks herrendous and it never ceases to amaze me who are picking up the record label contracts these days. Other than that. Good job and good luck.
