So I'm watching the election results from Quebec and the CBC was rolling with some hot looking graphics for the results as the come in (sorry I tried to get a grab, but no luck).

They seem to update live and have some fairly complex builds, with many different types of pie charts, graphs etc. Out of curiosity I google around for "live motion graphics generator" etc but they all seem fairly standard-issue lower third and keying stuff.

I've just got to know!

...this doesn't count as political posting, right?

Chyron has a fair market share of the live graphics market. I've used a Chyron MicroX and Lex to pull data from an Excel file on a network share to live update donation funds raised for a PBS-type telethon. I'm sure the newer ones can do fancy graphs and stuff. It's only limited by your imagination and how many key channels you have.
