I posted a music video a few days back with some great feedback, so I thought I would put another one up. The song is "Time After Time" from Nichole Nordeman (female christian artist).Wait till ya get a look at the guy playing "Jesus"...He was perfect!

Well done on the storytelling. *I liked the composition, lighting, edit pace and more subtle effects flare effects. *

Anytime someone does the vignette stuff when it is played on a black background webpage it bugs the hell out of me. *The dot of exposed area just seems swallowed up by my 15" 16:9 monitor. *Like looking through a keyhole instead of the desired effect.

As a Godless agnostic trying to find my way back to - or at least negotiate some peace with - organized religion, this reinvention of a song originally voiced by a woman in torn leggings and a bra over her shirt is incredibly and surprisingly palatable. *

I might have turned a corner today...

This was done very well. The imagry was amazing, very good levels on the colors as well. So what is it with all these Christian videos!? I'm always left crying :'(

cool moves... what did you use for that low tracking shot in the church... the one through the rows... a skateboard? I loved it, just wondering

I am very impressed with the shot near the middle of the piece with the girl and guy standing on the dock. If I was watching a "high budget" music video I would just assume it was a two-plate motion control shot. But I am assuming your budget didn't allow. Was this just very precise dolly work or did you use another technique to film the two plates, them being: 1) The shot of the dock WITHOUT talent 2) The shot of the dock WITH talent.

Just curious.

Or maybe you DO have a motion control rig.

Overall good work. I am excited to see a music video with something meaningful and inciteful in the message. I've had about enough of fast cars, bling bling and shakin booties.

I have a few toys that help the overall look...

Promax CobraCrane and their Tracking Dolly setup, which comes with 15 ft. of track.

As for the shot on the dock...No motion control here, just good timing I guess. I learned that the same effect had been pulled off in the movie Butterfly Effect, where they reveal the main character without his arms (watch the behind the scenes segment). I attempted the move at least 10 times for both shots (subjects in and out). Then went in post and found the 2 that matched up the best...I'd rather be lucky than good!

Thanks for the feedback!
Epp

brilliant, if not a little cliched. I really loved it though.

Very well done in all respects. Plus that song has always been very sad -- in a good way of course. ;)

Eppdidit, Very well put together. The only thing I didn't really like is the photoshop lense flare you used. It's no biggy, I liked it overall.

Bro.. you really have a director's eye for piecing together a music video/narrative like this. I'm really impressed by your techinical cohesian and touched by the films powerful message (though the story is still somewhat cliche as another poster said). Keep up the awesome work.

Very beautiful. And the transitions were great. Well thought out and executed. I felt a little uncomfortable actually seeing Jesus in it. I guess its just cause I always thought she was a black chick.

Good job. Nice, very nice. I enjoyed it very much. I watched it about 10 times and each time I though it was very well put together. The guy actor friend or are they really a couple. Only reason I asked is the two don't seem to match.
