If anyone lives in the Bay Area of California, you might want to check out the Cinema museum in Niles, California. Niles is a small town south of San Francisco and north of a city called Fremont. Niles is nestled at the foot of Niles Canyon where Charlie Chaplin created the majority of his silent films. On your visit, you can see the original nickleodian theater, built buy Thomas Edison, complete with arclight projectors. It was in this theater that Chaplin previewd his finished works. They have a vault of 750 of Chaplin's and Bronco Billy's silent films and have showings every Saturday night. The preservation committee is in the process of restoring one of the surviving bungalows used by actors working at the Essanay Studios (derived from the phonetic spelling of the studio's founders' last initials "S" and "A". Unfortunately, the original natural light film stage no longer exists, but there are plenty of pictures.
