export to tape from prem6.5 starts "fast forwarding" at random, that is, sometimes, but not always, anywhere in the film to be exported, maybe at the beginning, maybe at the last minute, while exporting to tape, the film starts to sort of fast forward, including audio getting squeaky.

I use premiere 6.5 on a fujitsu nseries lifebook, 80gb harddrive, 2.66GHz, 768MB ram, so I would not think the laptop was too weak..?

My suspicion is it starts stumbling and running when the processor gets hot.

If anybody knows more about this or has any good advice how to solve it, I would be really glad!

And another question apart: if I import footage done in 25p mode, do I have to import/export with the project settings on "no fields"?

Thanx!

It could be that your harddrive RPM maybe alittle slow.

I don't think Premiere 6.5 supports 25,24p editing. Though, I've never tried importing 25p footage. Why don't you just try it.

okay. I thought 2.66ghz was more than enough, it may be not then... :-(

I did actually import, edit and then export footage filmed in 25p mode, together with regularly filmed footage. I could not see much differences between the two, therefore my question. I thought it would be quite obvious, but it wasnt, so I suspected maybe it is to do with import and export why I cannot see the difference.

for example there were still artefacts (I thought they would not occur with 25p material)

premiere 6.5 can edit 24 or 25p . it just cant perform the pulldown naitive. you have to do that in something like DV filmmaker or AE. and then bring in the footage as true 24/25p already to edit. sounds like you didnt do any pulldown and just made a 24p timline and imported your 29.976 footage from the camera.
