Hey all,
I've posted the almost final version of the commercial......to be honest, I'm not liking it. I had to make some changes because the client wanted them in there. But thats advertising.
However, because you were such a great place for feedback, I figured it'd be worth it to post the final. Please let me know what you think.
I'm just glad to be working on a different ad now.

I've seen worse. TBob, this version seems alittle cheesy but I like it better than the first. It's alot more intresting. If your client likes this then, good! That's really what matters. Your doing it for them not you. I've done lots of commercials and I hate 90% of them. They pay me to do what they want and thats what I give them. Simple. Its all about customer sastifaction. If I want to be creative, I'll apply them to my feature films. I agree with antomic, using a different girl would be better. No offense. Keep it up, you're doing really good.
It does showcase the product MUCH better. Nice job!!

Thanks guys,
Yeah the girl was a friend of my boss's son.....she was uhh, a little thicker than he remembered. But with the little time left, I just had to get it done.
You're right about giving the client what they want, its just the way things go. And they did like this version so we tweaked some minor things and sent it off.
On a positive note, if you watch TV up here, its still one of the best looking local ads on TV! ;)

well congrats anyway. that's what happens in local advertising. the client becomes the art director.
and my comments weren't about the girl being attractive or not...although you guys made me laugh at that. i meant the whole cut didnt belong. it was too absurd and intrusive to me.
i'm still sticking with my first post...i like the first version much better. it flowed much more smoothly, and i dont think we had to see the hand hitting the remote in every shot. i think most people are smart enough to get it.
But i understand that the end result is making the client happy, even if you have to separate yourself emotionally from the project.
Thanks for posting the follow up T...i was actually going to ask how it all ended.

Why does the girl explode?! *I loved it! *Made the whole spot for me. *So random and so quick that it just worked wonders. Local commercials need more weirdness in them.

I thought it was pretty funny. I've seen worse.. trust me. and still airing on our local channels. The girl exploding was crazy. She turned into smoke which I thought was weird. Was she a smoker??

The first version didn't have the hand in every shot did it?

No. the first version was just had the hand in its own shot.
The girl turned to smoke because she was a great genie from the land oouapoorando.....just kidding, I had a smoke machine dude, I had to use it somehow ;)

my website is well, in a temp version. I just haven't had time to work on a final version. I should just get something simple up there. I haven't had my DVX that long so I don't really have that much to post yet. Soon I want to try my hand at a short film.
The agency I work for is doing a casting call up here so soon I should meet some people who can actually act. which should allow me to do more story based ads.
