Hey all,

I'm looking at grabbing an FS700, but I was curious if the SDI out will let you record the 1080P signal, or if it will only function to output the 4K signal in the future? I don't really need the 4K output right now, and I'd like to avoid using the crummy HDMI port with my recorder.

Thanks in advance,
Jordan

It's a 3G-SDI port, which should be fully backward compatible with HD-SDI, so it will output HD-SDI as well as the future raw signal. As to whether it'll output 1080p or not, I don't know. HD-SDI isn't capable of handling 1080/60p, but 3G-SDI is, so it's possible they've implemented 1080/60p output. Even so, if they have, no HD-SDI recorder would be able to handle it, you'd need a dedicated 3G-SDI recorder to record 1080/60p. The Gemini could probably do it.

I'm fine with recording 60P anf higher framerates to card. As long as the 3G-SDI port supports 1080/24P and 1080/30P at 422, I'll be ecstatic.

Yeah, it'll do that.
