I haven't seen any release of info on accessory prices for the HD100 in America. However, Videoguys Australia (http://www.videoguys.com.au) has some parts listed, along with their price. Performing some currency conversions, and then comparing their prices to B&H's, it seems like the AUD price at Videoguys is usually around twice the US$ price at B&H, sometimes less than twice. Based on that, I figure that the following will likely be ballpark "street prices" for some accessories for the HD100:
1/2" to 1/3" bayonet lens mount converter: should be around US$700
Wide-angle converter for Fujinon 16x lens: should be around US$500
BR-HD50 deck: US$2800 maybe?

Okay, looks like I can do even better than that -- ggvideo.com has listed some actual prices on their site.
Wide-angle converter lens: $530
13x3.5 optional wide-angle lens: $9,670
1/3" to 1/2" converter: $705
3500 mah battery: $135
ka-551u tripod adapter plate: $265 (sure beats the ~$1000 we were first told!)
G&G video is an authorized dealer for Panasonic gear, and their prices seem in line with B&H on most everything, so I would take these prices as legit.

thanks Barry for the info.
Do you think the wide angle converter lens will provide good image quality ?

I don't think there's any info on it yet. I don't even know what percentage wider it makes the image...

In the demo I saw in Rome there was a Fuji Wide-Angle adapter. It should be 500€+VAT in Italy. It didn't eat too much light, it didn't vignette at any setting of the zoom and it didn't changed the image quality in any sense (at least to the eye in the HD CRT monitor we were using for the demo). It's a 0.8x.

13x3.5 optional wide-angle lens: $9,670
Seems a bit steep for a 1/3" lens. Would this be the price with the camera?

JVC just put up their official prices on the pro.jvc.com site - see here (http://pro.jvc.com/prof/Attributes/accessories.jsp?tree=&model_id=MDL101539&itempath=&feature_id=05).
Unfortunately, that price is for the lens alone.

Well now, if they'd have done that a couple of days ago that would have saved some time! ;)
Looks like everything's priced about as expected.
Would this be the price with the camera?
The $11,995 lens is not the one included with the camera, of course. The body alone has been mentioned as being $5495, although I don't see any official confirmation of that anywhere. If that's true, that would mean they value the included lens at about $800.
The optional wide-angle lens is $11,995 by itself.

he he...that's funny !
The WA lens costs 2X the camcorder...
he he...interchangeable lens...
Probably (almost for sure), other manufacturers will jump in and make big money !

Not likely... it's extremely expensive to make and sell HD lenses. The cheapest HD lens that Canon offers is over $12,000, if I'm not mistaken.
You'll see people using SD lenses, I'm sure. And maybe they'll be good enough, although it doesn't make sense to me. But one look at Eidomedia's FX1 lens hack sure seems to show that a 35mm still-camera lens does a better job than the FX1's built-in "HD" lens, so maybe the SD lenses will be good enough...
... another thing to add to the "got to test" pile!

Barry,
When I get my HD100's (July), I'll also get the 1/3" to 1/2" stepup adapter. I own a Fujinon 20x6.4 lens that I've used on my DV500. I'll test the camera/lens setup and post my feelings on the results. As you know, I used to be based in Las Vegas. I get there regularly. I'd be glad to bring the 20x6.4 and stepup adapter over to Las Vegas so you can shoot some footage and report the results. Hopefully that would help answer everyones questions on how well a good 1/2" SD lens will perform on the HD100.
