I'm trying to figure out how they did a subtle effect in this music video at the 3:53 mark right at the end: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CiXZ23Unec&feature=autoplay&list=PLBE261E13F663F204&playnext=1

There's a woman who's face starts to morph away with this smoky type of effect then on the next shot there's a watch on a desk that begins to morph away with a smoky transition.

Anybody know how to get this effect? I'm asuming After FX, etc.

This is easier than it looks. They superimposed a smoke element over a wipe that "eats" away at the woman's face and the watch. There was also a subtle warp effect to make it look like the substance was breaking down into smoke.

Any FX package that can do masks, warps, and layered or node based superimposures will work. After Effects, Motion, Hit Film, etc.
