You got the idea Ryan! Think, Portlandia meets Anchorman's battle sequence meets Battle Royale. :)

Things are coming together quite nicely so far. Script is almost complete and looking good. I've got my two main characters lined up. I've got a bunch of group/gang members lined up as well. I am extremely excited for this project. I hope everyone else is doing well!

Nice work Bill. :) As a Portland resident, I really enjoyed the dialogue, lots of little quips that take on additional meaning for those of us who are familiar with this town like: "Share the road"; the Portland centric groups- Blazermaniacs, Cyclists, Timber Army ... LOL! Thanks for the laugh!

I really liked this concept. Possibly the most fun movie out of the lot. I wish you had access to more actors to fill in the constantly battling stereotypes, but you worked with who you had, and that's what counts.

Fun film. Moved at a nice pace -- you didn't try to pack too much in, but it also didn't drag, so well done. Not a huge fan of the dialogue scene in the middle. Overall really well done with an ambitious energetic short

Thanks for the good words y'all and keep the critiques coming, as they are much appreciated and needed! I really wish I had spent more than $7.50 on this movie (The smoke bombs). I had so many funny and slightly too epic ideas that didn't come to fruition. But man did I have a lot of fun and I had a lot of support from great people and friends. I loved the work they all put forth. :)

Bill! lol, fantastic! You struck a tone and you stuck to it! Super well done. Your best work by far, color me impressed.
The only scene that didnt quite work was the sit down and dialogue scene. I get why you needed it, though you probably could have made it happen in 1/2 the lines and screen time.
All in all, a super short man. Battle Portlandia!

Thanks Shawn! Good note. I'm still learning where the line is when doing explanatory/interesting dialogue. It's a fun process experimenting and getting feedback.

Gulroc: I agree. More people would have been so much fun. I was actually trying to track down the dude that rides down the streets on a unicycle in a kilt and a darth vader mask while playing a bagpipe. There's so much material in this city, I might try a sequel!

Ryan: Thank you! One of my big goals was to simply give people a few good chuckles and fun stuff to look at. I may have to get a budget and beg for your services for the sequel! Can't wait to work with you again if the opportunity occurs! :)

Now that I figured out how to quote. Thanks for the good words and I agree with the majorities comments on my use of the dialogue scene. I am having fun experimenting on what works/doesn't with dialogue so the critique helps a lot!

I just plain laughed all the way through this. I little crude at times, but that fit the overall look and feel so it worked for your film rather than detracting from it. I really enjoyed it and I thought you hit the fest rules and subject matter with humor and imagination.

Very funny film. Even though some of the jokes felt like they were written for Portlanders/Portlandians, I still laughed.
I especially liked the action cliches you made fun of, for example the fall/knee injury/self-sacrifice.
Also, It was great to see a comedy in this Fest - Best of Luck!

I'm still laughing... you nailed it (from what I know of the Portland area & people). Great job all around and the edit style just locked it in for me.

This was very clever. It reminded me of Bill and Teds Excellent adventure and Harold and Kumar got to White Castle. I really liked this one, thought it was funny and I really wanted to see the Chomper. Sequel?

"Get to the Chopper!" Hilarious.
I get the feeling there are more inside jokes in this short than I am privy to understanding, but that's ok. I really liked the main actor. He has a great look about him and handled the material well.

Very funny entry, loved the references. Really liked your use of 'DVX'. This had it's technical weak points, but it was thoroughly enjoyable. This was the only entry that had me laughing out loud, thanks.

As always, if you haven't seen this short yet, please stop reading this post as there are SPOILERS throughout.
What I liked: Your usage of jokes from other movies, internet meme's etc is up there, and that's a good thing. ESPECIALLY if you continue this onward. I really thought when he went down and said, "Ow! My knee!" there was going to be an "arrow to the knee" reference. The sound effects were a great add. REALLY added a lot. I'd like to see an entire episode devoted to each of the "clans."
What I didn't like as much: I was confused by a couple of things. References to chainsaws, guns, etc, yet they used those basketball noisemaking things as weapons? I didn't understand how she got separated from him in the woods. Why did the guy pass him instead of follow him? There were also things I just didn't get in it. Maybe it's Portland stuff. ::shrugs:: I didn't understand the shoe at the end. I was preeeetty confused.
Final thought: WARRRRRIORSSS!!! COME OUT AND PLAY!

RUN GO...GET TO THE CHOMPER!!!
Best line of dialogue from the whole fest!
Really crazy and fun short.
In honor of Tequilawoos line from above we should have a ARNOLD FEST...gotta use a slightly modiffied Arnold line. :)
Loved the sound effects and the "rolling while throwing dirt " stunts!

RUN GO...GET TO THE CHOMPER!!!
Best line of dialogue from the whole fest!
I completely disagree with Ryan the best line of the fest was "Share the Road" right before hitting the cyclist. Still laughing at that.
I enjoyed this one for the fun idea that it was and the play on charater types and old Arnold lines. I thought the stunts were well done as well.
Share the road...still funny.

I thought this was charming in its total out-there zaniness and I very much appreciated that in this field of a lot of very gritty-serious-grrrdiedie war movies. I felt like I was constantly in the flow of action which was great, but also that I was a step behind the jokes -- maybe I'm just uninformed but I felt that stuff was going over my head left and right, even though what I was getting I was enjoying. Like the whole thing was this inside joke I was being let mostly in on. For that mostly bit, congrats and great job!!

HAHAHAHAHA! Bill this was hilarious! "Get to the Chomper!" "Share the road!" Whap! "Ruptured patella... I'm going to have to do micro-fracture surgery!" Love it! You have some great stuff here especially for us Oregonians (although I know others appreciated it too). Some continuity issues at the beginning with wardrobe but it still worked with the style. You did a great job with what you had. Even with only a few people it totally worked. You have some funny dialog during the slow/dumpster/sit-and-talk scene but it went... too... long... and the humor was lost. The camera work was nice, totally fit the style and was not distracting at all. Watched again and laughed even harder = good sign. =DGreat work!

This was a stupid fun film. I loved how you categorized everyone into their social groups (chuckle) and it's a flick that just doesn't take itself seriously. While it may not place high in marks, you did something a few of these films didn't do, you made the film -
ENTERTAINING!
Good job (chuckle)!

Yep this was an amusing film on the superficial level - (and is all the more amusing and affectionately so) among fellow filmmakers (be warned - less so imo, to a discerning indifferent audience!)
The story is a set of skits among different pop cultural groups with the odd (unexpected individual) though for a sec I though the mountain man would be a hipster haha (if he had skinny jeans and pilot shades!)
so this was a 'fun' and irreverent little film, that was all very geeky and silly. Which is part of its charm, there have been (in the cinematic evolution of things) sophisticated attempts at this kind of geek-pop-culture-humour in films, especially as nerdomia becomes an ever increasing pop cultural obsession and commodity.
So yoru film certainly filled the criteria of 'crowd-pleaser' and had moments of fun - creative and novel ideas that I think indicate a somewhat irreverent and creative mind!
