Turf war

When two elderly men are in competition for the best lawn on the block yet again,
a seemingly lighthearted prank starts an all out war between the two neighbors.

This is my first fest, so I'm pretty excited. Had a spot of free time coming up so this all works out really well.

This will be my first comedy, so here goes nothing!

It begins. Script nearly done, so I put out a CL ad to see if I would get any possible actors to play or elderly heroes. Casting two elderly men. 55+ , must be fit enough for light physical comedy etc.

And this is my first reply:


i WORK IN A FUNERAL HOME. I JUST EMBALMED 2 OLD GEEZERS THAT WOULD BE GREAT FOR THE PART. THEIR PERSONALITIES ARE A BIT LACKING. THEIR FACIAL EXPRESSIONS ARE PRICELESS THOUGH. mY BROTHER DRESSED ONE IN A BATMANS OUTFIT, AND PROPPED HIM UP SO I WALKED INTO HIM WHEN I WALKED IN. THEY CALLED ME AT 2 AM SAYING THEY HAD A STIFFY FOR A LUBE AND FILTER FOR A 9 AM SERVICE. I WAS READY FOR IT THOUGH. I HAD A BAT MYSELF. I HIT THAT OLD poo pooER SO HARD. I HAD TO USE 4 LBS OF STUFFING TO PUFF OUT THE SUIT WHEN i PUT HIM IN THE FREEZER

Casting seems to be a bit tough. The title of my casting post says Seeking ELDERLY Actors.

Yet, all I'm getting is 50 year old guys and a few 40 somethings. :violin:

Just put it out on every casting site that I could find, so hopefully we'll be moving forward soon.

Love the title! I hope you find some good talent. You might consider asking people about their grandparents/parents. I just did a shoot where they needed old cars and some of the guys there only did it/found out about it from their kids. Looking forward to this one!

We finally have a couple of people interested. I'm not completely sold on the submissions we have so far, but we're now looking to go through a local theater to see if we can source some talent there.

If that doesn't work, I'm going to beg my grandparents to do it. :thumbsup:

Unfortunately we're on hiatus for the moment.

Well, maybe not so unfortunately because I started getting some pretty steady gigs, and I'm looking to move to the city by the end of next month.

Definitely want to make this one eventually, even if it's late for the Fest.
