Software: Vegas 5
Processor: Pentium 660 3.2 ghz, 1g RAM
User: Vegas Rookie
1. My rendering times are as slow as a parapeligic turtle doin' the moonwalk up Pike's Peak. I noticed when looking at the processor's performance only 1 thread of the CPU showed up to work. Is there a way to capitalize on both threads to speed rendering?
2. Are VASST plugins a good substitute for Magic Bullet (speed, quality, ect.)

I don't think vegas 5 supported Multi threaded CPU's, vegas 6 does however.

I thought that might be the case. Might be time to upgrade. Thanx scharky!

I'm stealing this quote
HyperThreading caught a lot of client apps off gaurd thinking that "dual processors" would never saturate client markets. I'm a software developer and I've done a lot of server apps that run on dual and quad processors and I'm really impressed with the HyperThreading "simulation" so to speak. I didn't think I would be but it's very cool.
Anyway, scharky is absolutely correct, time to move to V6

Can't you use two instances of the network render app, and point those both to the same computer (the one you are working on).
I think you use different settings somewhere, I forgot exactly.
But that was a workaround for the dual processor system I had when I had version 5.
Version 6 takes into account hyperthreading and dual processors from the get-go...like it was already stated here.

I've not used it myself, so I can't speak from experience, but I've heard others say it's faster. Bottom line, from what I know VASST plugin's are just saved templates using the FX that already come native with VEGAS, so you're not REALLY using a third party plug in ... in other words, you're just manipulating Vegas' own color correction, levels, etc.
So for speed it should SMOKE over Magic Bullet's. I can't really say that quality would be any different ... it's just more a matter of which one you like better with your own naked eye. I've seen JPEG's of side by side comparisons, and though they've done a great job of coming VERY close to Magic Bullet's various looks, there's still a SLIGHT difference. Just more of a preference on the user's part, and if you want the speed, etc. of VASST.
