Hello I'm new to the boards, seems like a very cool spot to build.

I was wondering if anyone can help me achieve the projecter transition effect. What I mean is when the clip moves up and another clip follows it from underneath, kind of like an old school projector. Is there a plugin which can help do this?

I know my description sucks, so here is an example of what I mean:

any help would be appreciated.

thanks

Trying to explain this isn't easy--but if you have any knowledge of the pan/crop tool, what you can do is put two instances of the video on the timeline in two separate video track. Then you could use the pan/crop tool to move the first video off of the screen.

Then take the other instance, make sure it is below frame to begin with, and move it into position taking the same amount of time the first instance took to get off of the screen. Now repeat, starting with the second instance.

I know this sounds confusing, but if you work with it for a second, it should become pretty clear. If you add just a little space in between the two clips, you can get a black space between the events coming and going.

To make it look a little more like bad tracking, try compositing a line of static/fuzz/white noise (whatever you call it) over the top of it that will fit in between the two instances, making it look a little more real.

Hope this helps.

Here's a thought. I'm not sure it will work, but I can't think of why it would not. Find the video transition in Vegas that brings in the next clip from the bottom (I think it exists, but not absolutely certain). Overlap the two video clips that are involved in the transition, and then drag the transition into the overlap area of the two video clips. Then you can use an envelope to adjust the progress of the transition between the two clips.

Look at the "TV Simulator" in the "Video FX" (View | Video FX) - You can adjust the "Vertical Sync" Setting and get the rolling image look you are talking about.

or you can do it another way...by using Track Motion...set the clips so they are running at the same time..then just move one upwards..then the other to follow, etc. And for old school projector look...you could apply the old film effect and mess around with the colors...and make the edges rounded off instead of sharp edges that make the video look like a box..looks kinda old skool to me...
