My favorite part about NAB are the little companies who have the tiny booths that get stuck way in the back. Often some of the most innovative gizmos and ideas can be found there; little diamonds in the rough. Anyone have a report on the little guys who look promising?

It was lack luster show (for me). seems the industry is splitting apart. one half is going after 3D business and the other is going after the DSLR side of things.
I think the general public isn't ready for mainstream 3D but the industry is investing heavily on it being successful.
(the other part)
The all these small companies are getting into accessorizing the DSLR 'demand'. I see DSLR User more as a weekend hobby filmmakers (which is not a bad thing) but I don't think they have a budget for all those gadgets.

Honestly, I think it was a down year for "the little guys." I just don't really remember seeing anything at those small, out of the way booths that I thought was really ground-breaking. Yes, there were a lot of DSLR accessories, but that's nothing new. Last year, for example, Edelkrone came out of nowhere, and I just didn't really feel that impact from anyone in 2012 at NAB.

That said, there were a lot of cool new things at the show, but nothing that fits the "small booth" category in my mind.

They dropped there prices recently from what I see. I am thinking with the Black Magic Cinematic Camera some more folk may want to take a look at their Pocket Rig http://www.edelkrone.com/the-pocket-rig/. I've not had time to do a full review, but the concept seems to have a following.
