Sorry... just found the answer to my own question so I've returned to modify the post:
The HD100 brochure lists power consumption at 14 watts while in record mode
The JVC website lists it at 17 watts.

Well that's about twice as much as the XL2! And on top of that, since the history of the XL2, it's easy to find batteries up to 6000 mAh. You need te search real hard to come up with a (standard)battery for the JVC that has 3500 mAh... So battery life might be quite dissapointing?
On the other hand: that's a damn good reason to buy the A/B adapter, and probably the cam wil have a divine balance when that's mounted (too bad it has to cost like a €1000 for adapter+batteries+charger)...

I figure 90 minutes for the standard/included battery, and probably around two hours for the 3500mah.
Maybe Jarred will consider building batteries for the JVC, and get us a 5600mah version soon? That would deliver about three hours...

I attended a demo today, and the JVC employee quoted a little bit more than one hour for the standar and two hours for the big one.

Sounds about right. Let's hope Jarred makes some 6000mah batteries for the JVC -- that should give us about three and a half hours of runtime.
Any mention made of whether it allows external power? Maybe dolgin can build an XLR-to-JVC or cigarette-to-JVC adapter so we can power the HD100 off of a regular battery belt, for times when you're wearing the belt anyway...

I saw a demo version with an Anton Bauer adapter on it. So that leaves options wide open as far as autonomy.

Yes, there's a power conector. They said in the demo if you need more time than the JVC batteries, to go with a "belt-pack" (??) or third party solution...

There is an option of an Anton Bauer or an IDX power solution, but with a cost of about $1000. For that you can have about 30 3500 mAH batteries... there are some at very good prices on ebay. The original charger is able to charge 2 batteries at once, and these batteries charging time is less than the ones from Anton or IDX.
