i am using the editing workspace hence the dual view so as to have source and destination in the monitor dialog. the souce monitor is wider than the destination monitor, i meen the actual picture seems streched in the source. the settings for both seem the same.
a problem that i am encountering however is that when i do a transition (additive/cross) or change the opacity as to have a fade to black, when the transition/fade occur the destination picture appears to stretch.
so i have the normal picture stretching for the duration of the effect. it seems to me that the 'streched'source picture is showing on the non-streched destination picture. I exported to movie thinking that this was only a problem
when displaying in premiere (even though i had rendered the work area), but to my surprice this stetching appears when vieing the exported avi in media player.
I recorded in F1 so no progressive and am using premier pro.
Has anyone come by such an issue, can you give me any hints.
10x.

I think you're just experiencing one of Premiere's bugs. I've been having some dissolve probelms as well but its nothing like yours. Sometimes it wont even let me do a dissovle. At the moment just learn how to work around it. Then again, it could be anything. I hope the newest version of Premiere will fix all these little bugs. I think ver 6.5 is the most stablest of all Premieres yet to date.

when i say it stretches during a fade to black it does this only for an instance. then it does this again just for an instance on fade from black, i am modifying opacity through keyframes. on inserting a transition it does this stretching only once again for an instance then normal picture size is seen. a sort of a 'flicker' for a split second.

check your aspect ratio settings. make sure that the footage is all interpreted to the correct aspect ratio. you can interpret all your clips at once by just selecting them all in the project bin and right clicking and choosing "interpret footage. and use the correct aspect ratio. ive never had the issue your describing. sounds like a setting is off or the footage is interpreted at the wrong aspect ration if the scource monitor is wide.. it probably thinks the footage is 16:9. also be sure your project is set to the same correct aspect ratio.

you were right iamloser the pixel aspect ratio was set to USe Pixel aspect ratio from file: D1/PAL widescreen 16:9. i chose the conform to instead and selected C1/DV PAL (1.067) instead after selecting all avis. it worked wonders. thanks a lot, what does it mean to use the aspect ratio from file it being widescreen, does it mean that after capturing the default capturing is done to is 16:9 or is that a default setting premiere setts its files to?
even if you should not answer me 10x a lot youarewinner.
i'll leave you to the experts joemiked.

thewheel.. im assuming your footage is letterboxed? sometimes the NLEs interpret that as being 16:9. and they flag it at 1.2 pixel aspect and automatically display it as such.

joemiked.. im asssuming you have a setting wrong somewhere. or its just the result of the adaptive resolution changing the image a little on the fly.. have you tried rendering it out.. does it still stretch it? otherwise id say you have something set incorrectly somewhere.. again its likely to do with aspect ratio.
