I was lucky enough to grab a NEX 7 from Cameta Camera and it was delivered yesterday. Super slick packaging (reminded me of my Fuji X100's boxing) and easily the most comfortable camera I've ever held in my hand. Smaller than I thought it would be, but everything laid out beautifully. This is my first NEX---although I own many Sony EX cams for work---and I've owned canon 7d/panny gh1&2, x100, x10---sold them all for various reasons. The NEX7 is like having a canon 7d with 29 min recording times using the 5d's megapixels and x100's ease of use and GH2's fast focus. I think I'll be keeping this one!

Congrats, chris. Glad to hear you're enjoying the NEX-7. This is the only camera that tempts me to put my GH1/GH2 up on eBay. If they lifted the 29 min recording time limit for the US market, I would buy one in a heartbeat.

Cheers,

Bill

The only thing that keep away from the Nex 7 is the same overheating issue as Nex 5n when recording long video shots.

this very effective trick for the nex-5n may also work on the nex-7: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?274466-Overcoming-NEX-5N-overheating-a-cheap-and-real-fix!

I will put the camera's video side to the test today and report back with the outcome. I will pull the screen out away from the camera, which is what I always thought was part of the problem with the 7D overheat. Any other requests?

I recommend to read this

So i guess no overheat fix to the Nex line for now, is sad because is a wonderful camera. I learn to live with this limitation, thatīs all.

Although I did not buy the camera for shooting long clips on the video side, I did put it to the test and got the Cool Down warning at 18 minutes. But that's why there's the NEX 10, 20, and FS100 for video in the NEX lineup! This is a still camera that shoots limited video...just like all the other dslr's. And that's why I can still make a living owning a small fleet of dedicated, full featured Video cameras. So I have no problem with it. This is a great camera for the prosumer!
