So I just got my brand new HPX250 and I had just a couple of quick questions.
1) I will be using this camera with an HVX200 quite often. Even though it doesn't create an exact match with the HVX200, I was wondering if it makes a noticeable difference whether I shoot in AVC-Intra 100 or DVCPROHD. I personally think that it would be best to try to match the codecs between the two cameras, but from what I've heard the AVC-Intra 100 codec is pretty darn good. Another thing to keep in mind is that I will be editing in FCP 6.0 so any AVC-Intra 100 footage will get converted to ProRes anyways if that matters.
2) What is a good tripod/head combo for the HPX250. I have been using a Manfrotto 516 head for awhile on my HVX200 and I kind of hate it. The head isn't really smooth, it sometimes "snaps" and "clicks" when panning/ tilting which makes for some pretty jittery camera footage. I would like something kind of beefy because I do use the tripod out in the field quite often filming fashion shows. I need something that not only looks impressive to clients but is also a little stronger than it has to be in case of abuse when out in the field.
3) Are there any affordable shoulder rigs for this camera? I have been meaning to get a shoulder rig for quite a while now but I haven't really looked into it until now. Right now most rigs seem to run in excess of $600 which seems a little expensive to me. Are there any shoulder rigs that have been tried and trued for this camera yet that aren't too expensive but also aren't sketchy and cheap?
All in all I am loving the camera so far. I'm waiting on Barry Green's awesome book to arrive before I really start trying to figure out exactly what this camera can do. I am very excited though and I would really appreciate your guys' advice. Thanks!
