In what city is the DVX made? ... in Osaka?
And, does anyone know if they give tours?

So, no one knows where exactly the DVX is made?

Planning on visiting the mother ship and seeing if they give free samples? Or maybe something will slip off the loading dock.
I've heard stories that at the dvx factory union workers sit around all day shooting dutch angles of donuts and coffee. :)

I'd like to help out a fellow Austinite, but the answer eludes us all. It's possible that the cameras are made in different Panasonic plants around the world. Much like Toyotas, etc. I doubt they're all made in one location.
Good luck!
DVX's are made in Area 51 and are the product of back engineered alien technology. Don't you guys know anything!

The DVX is actually made by Kodak. The reason you need to use Panasonic-specific tapes in the camera is because they are actually super-16 film cartridges made to look like DV tapes.
Sure, you can use other tapes in it but it will not...I repeat, will not...look like film.
I believe the cameras are assembled somewhere in Switzerland because the actual "mojo" of the camera is made from a complex composite of metals only found in a specific area of the Alps.
There are unconfirmed rumors that the XL2 also has a mojo but it is made from flimsy plastic and may have severe side effects over time.
