View Full Version : How to eliminate annoying lines?

Whenever I do pan & scan on still images, some flickering occurs and won't go away even after rendering. I have the "reduce interlace flickering" switch activated, but it seems that a more radical solution is needed. Anybody can help?
Thanks

Not real sure but try making the size of the picture smaller and see if it helps. I did a photo montage with a lot of stills. The older 1 megapixel shots looked better than the newer 3 megapixel shots. (the flickering i mean) I did not try to fix since it was home stuff.

Have you rendered out the final pan to an external file? If this is just in the timeline then you should try rendering it first.

also, what is your frame rate?

The problem is that digital stills have too much resolution, and you get aliasing at the edges.
You need to use "sub-pixel rendering". I posted the technique here earlier, so you should be able to find it in a search.

Thanks for the help. I tried sub-pixel rendering and this corrected the situation to a certain degree. Further experimentation showed that by using the "DVD Architect NTSC video stream" template in "Render as", and then the "Progressive only" fied order (instead of "interlaced"), the resulting mpeg is excellent. I mean it still flickers in the timeline, but the mpeg (and the DVD) are perfect. Thanks again.
