Total Congratulations to all who made it ! Enjoyed them all, jealous of the fun you obviously had. A pox on all of us posers who couldn't get our *# together enough to get in the game. Many thanks to all - you're all winners just being there.
Special Thanks to J.R. for chaperoning the entire event.
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and Best Wishes to All.

Had a great time watching all the videos. Thanks to J.R. for running the fest. And thanks to my "Christmas Cheer!" cohorts drewman and Brent aka Mr. Surf (he's not a DVXUSER member.)
Happy New Year to all.

Hey, Glengo, where's your thread?

Glengo, sense I cant seem to find your thread (existent?), I will post my review here...
Very great acting! They all seemed very natural when delivering lines. I also loved how sit-com like it was. Even the lighting felt sitcomy. One thing though, why did this need such a large crew for such a simple production!? :p no double tasking in your set aye? lol
I kid, I kid.
Anyway, fun little short!

Hey guys:
Thanks for the comments. I didn’t create a thread for the film.
This began when Drewman wanted to enter the fest. Unfortunately, I didn’t have any holiday scripts or great ideas pop into my head.
So to push myself, I made two assignments – write an outline and shoot improv a la “Like Crazy” or “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” And second, shoot multiple cameras.
Drewman shot his AF-100 and brought G&E while Brent shot his 5D. I recall we lit with two small Kinos.
Due to schedules and me catching a cold, we weren’t able to rehearse in advance. On the day of the shoot we rehearsed on camera a few times and then discussed the beats and timing.
We shot inserts and CU, but they didn’t work with the improv. If I shoot something like this again, I would add a third camera for more editing options.
Thanks and have a prosperous New Year!

glengo: Good stuff! There's been a few times where I felt like I couldn't leave a party fast enough! Great work:)

Hey -- this was great! Seriously, even though there are few entries, the quality of the entries is higher than most DVXFests. Some genuinely entertaining stuff here, congrats to all who took the effort and spent the time to make these nuggets of holiday entertainment for the rest of us!

Is there anyone out there besides Barry, Hawk and the six guys who made the films watching anything? This thread seems as dead as my animated Santa. Oh, well, I still had a blast making mine and watching everyone's stuff. Nice to take some time off before the Spring fest.

I shall plan… plan for something big! Something longer then 6 mins as my script is already 20 pages. :p nonetheless i will make another 6min entry in the next dvxfest

If people aren't watching, they're missing out. There's far more entertainment here than in any pixel-peeping camera test!

Ok, Just seen that Tequila woo shot the right on schedule entry on the 7d. I'm really interested to know how you pulled off the fast camera moves without the footage swaying. was it done in post? really great cam movement. Please elaborate if you have time

I was the dp, and honestly I didnt even know footage CAN sway on the 7D :p I was just practicing with what kind of camera movements would be cool an unique and I decided to just move the camera as fast as possible. It took a few tries to get the movement to be smooth. Maybe it was the shutterspeed I used. Either way I didnt notice any swaying

Looks like this fest and thread have run their course. It was fun despite the rather meager response. I'm guessing late Spring before we get another fest off the ground. See everybody then.

Most of mine can be found at youtube.com/sidehawkfilms ... they have different names than the DVXFest names, though. All of them are named after a character in the short.
