View Full Version : How to tell the story of a subculture?

I think subcultures are interesting in and of themselves. I don't need a storyline or a plot to make them interesting. It's just a question in my mind of how to design a production that captures the essence of what they're on about.

I've got a years worth of footage looking in from the outside already, but very little interaction and virtually no audio. How would you interview, narate and film to put all the sub plots and side stories you might capture into a proper piece?

It's a vague, pointless story basically, much like the rest of life, but I still see a value in telling it, especially to those involved.

Suggestions or examples of something like this would be greatly appreciated.

That is interesting. I just moved to the top of my Netflix queue a film that may address that and might be worth watching in regard to your question. I don't know much about it, but here is the Wikipedia article on it.

It will be here today (12.29.11). If I get a chance to watch it soon I will comment back.
