he says that the 88Mbit AVCHD Intra Image quality is virtually the same as higher bitrate i-frame settings such as 176Mbit.
i hope it's accurate.

The roadrunner patch froze my camera. Had to pull battery. In addition, when I set all my basic settings (manual mode, 24H, shoot w/out lens, disabled audio beeps, etc) the second I hit record my camera beeped and all my settings were automatically reverted (back to FSH, auto modes, etc. basically all the settings that are default when you first upload that patch) and I wasn't able to stop the recording therefore the battery had to be pulled.

Did it three times in a row. The first two attempts where just after I loaded the patch. The third after I resaved from ptools 3.63 and loaded onto a freshly formatted card. It did it again. Gonna try the intra-esting 88 patch, but I have a feeling I'm just gonna stick with the driftwood patches which I had no issues with.

I just tried the Intra-esting 88 patch, it seemed to be stable for long takes (like 5 minutes+), but on one of them recording stopped about 7 or 8 minutes in. Not sure if I accidentally hit the button, but I was using a shoulder rig and I normally don't have my hands on the body. It also does not play back any of the video in-camera (didn't try the 35mbps Intra). I was using a Sandisk Extreme Pro card, so I don't think the problem lies there. Oddly enough, the footage plays great in Quicktime player (with the Panasonic AVC importer plugin) while VLC struggles to decode it.

Wouldn't try any patch this EOSHD comes up with. The film mode crap is just hilarious.

I think this is probably a bad idea. Stick with Branson, MCBKWD, and Driftwood patches over on pv. Those guys have all put dozens of hours into finding the limits.

Follow up note: FCP7 Log and Transfer will not recognize the AVCHD files produced with the Intra-88 hack, nor does Import from Camera in FCPX. Haven't tried it in Premiere yet.

I was able to get clips ingested using ClipWrap, but it's a pain in the ass trying to shoehorn this into a regular workflow. No playback in camera, problems ingesting the video, and it eats up gobs of card space. I don't think the image quality justifies the workarounds you'd have to use just to get everything working.

There you go. Stick with the patches from the guys that really know what they are doing. Forget the EOSHD crap or you will be really sorry if you don't.

I wouldn't worry so much. I think Andrew Reid knows very well what he's doing.

That was the 44mbit hack probably from CBrandin, not his wacky concoction.

Ha right...I've been telling many of my friends down here in FLA....that New Yorkers are the most misunderstood people in the world.

@John Caballero

Andrew's Roadrunner hack has a 44Mb long record lower setting built in. Yes, it is most likely based on CBrandin's, at a guess, but why not? Why do you think his settings are wacky? I think you're judging prematurely and being unfair and rude. Somebody posted earlier in this thread that they had experienced this 200Mb patch crash on their camera, which I believe elicited your dismissive response, but were they using a 95MB Sandisk Extreme card, as is always suggested with these mega high bitrate patches? There is no mention of it, and please note that this is often the downfall of noobs attempting such patches, not the patch designer, or the patch itself. Maybe you should wind it in a bit.

End of discussion. Happy holidays!

I'm confuse? Will it blow my Gh2?

Gonna make a call here: you guys have to either post this stuff in the questions thread or go to Andrew directly. The hack's not a Panasonic thing, and as grateful as I am for it, Personal-view.com is the place for this kind of stuff.

Sorry folks, hope you understand.
