I'm not sure where to post this, but I'll try here. I have a Panasonic AG-HMC40 video camera and I'm thinking about purchasing a GH2.

Is the screw thread for a tripod on the bottom of the GH2 the same size as that on the HMC40?

Thanks.

There are cheap adapters to convert a large thread to the smaller thread so I wouldn't worry about it... Al

HMC40 and GH2 thread size are the same.

Good luck with your new GH2.

I just located the online user manual for the HMC40 and it says 1/4-20UNC so I assume it's the same. I have a Sachtler FSB 4 that I use with the HMC40 and wanted to make sure that I didn't need to change anything when I get the GH2. (I have a really old tripod that appears to have a different thread size.) However, I assume if I get the GH2 I might look at the cage, rails, etc.

Thanks for the speedy response.

It is the same thread size, however there is only one attach point, no second hole to place the extra pin preventing rotation of the camera.

Good point. Any other solution other than exploring a "rig?"
