In this short video I compare auto focus tracking of the HPX250 and the HMC150. Both cameras are set on auto-everything and recording in 1280 x 720 60P. I bumped auto gain to 12db.

The HPX250 seems to hunt more for focus and looses focus when zooming out and then zooming back in:

It's a 22x lens so it's going to focus a little slower. I believe the focus would track better if you were using the servo zoom instead of manual snap zooms.

Your running the 250 into macro mode on the lens and it doesn't hold focus when on macro mode.

There is nothing wrong with the camera. If you are just beyond 6ft on your nearest focus the system can handle it. BarryG explains all on another thread.
