We did this simple setup to try out the Hyperdeck Shuttle. I want to remind you this is no comparison, just two select shots from the shoot. Recorded 10bit 4:2:2 uncompressed, cine gamma 3, detail off. Footage is ungraded, just a little boost for input black to achieve appropriate shadows. You might see the frames we had to build for the water and they sure will be masked out later on.

Here you can see the setup. DIY skater dolly, camera on a sand bag, shuttle taped on the redrock base plate, 4' 4bank kino flo with full diffusion for the lighting.

The Shuttle was very easy to use and we had no problems using it although it definitely needs an external power source. When zooming in the image 400% one could easily see the difference in noise structure, so much finer and cleaner in the uncompressed compared to xdcam. Have to examine more later.

Not too bad ! I've shot a bunch of jewelry for advertising and eCommerce - my main advice woud be to avoid where prop outshines product.
You are right on the line with this one because my eye goes to the prop first. Generally, for jewelry still life you want the product to stand out from the background which his different color or texture. Where possible I use models

I agree with J Davis that i was a little distracted by the rocks as apposed to the jewelry itself (they look really cool!)

great looking footage though, any chance we might see a .png from the shuttle footage?

Yes the rocks might be little distracting but because this was no real commercial we had to use what was laying around in the storage. Nevertheless you had some great points for this kind of work and will definitely keep them in mind when attempting a project like this. I'll look into that png next monday.
