DVXFest – XMAS HOLIDAY MINIFest – Official Rules
Make a XMAS HOLIDAY (For the politically correct) movie that is a minimum of 3 minutes and no more than 6 and does not exceed a hard R rating (if you are unsure, ask first).
6 minutes and 1 second is a disqualification as is 2 Minutes and 59 seconds.

You must use a DVXuser sanctioned leader as the first moving images in your film.
Leaders available at: www.dvxfest.com/leaders (http://www.dvxfest.com/leaders)
You only have to use the visuals (included audio not required)
The use of the leader does NOT count against your 3 to 6 minutes

You must use the following prop(s) somewhere in your film (YOUR CHOICE):

A Snow Globe

or

A Hockey Stick or Baseball Bat or Golf Club

or

The Decapitated Head of Santa's Head Elf. (Just kidding)

A backpack.





You must use original or licensed material in your film. Failure to do so will result in disqualification. DVXuser (or its partners) assumes no liability for copyright violations. We will make a good faith effort to identify any and all copyright violations in submitted entries.

HOLIDAY XMAS FEST Run Dates




Shooting dates start now. The dates to make your film are from NOV 24th, 2011 to DEC 23, 2011. The deadline for uploads will be December 23, 2011, at 4pm Pacific Standard Time. HOSTING WILL BE ON AS VIMEO CHANNEL TO BE ANNOUNCED WITH A PASSWORD


XMAS HOLIDAY MINI Fest Promotion

No more than 15 seconds of footage from your film is to be publicly displayed prior to the conclusion of the festival. (DVXuser may grant a waiver for live film festivals that premiere prior to the conclusion of DVXFest. You must make this request in writing prior to any public viewing.)
You may promote your film (and dvxfest in general) on, or outside of, DVXuser. Please do not register to websites simply to spam links to your fest entry. Utilize channels and communities you are already involved in. “Spammy” behavior will be grounds for disqualification.
*DVXuser reserves the right to alter or edit these rules until December 15th, 2011.
**DVXuser reserves the right to refuse entry for any reason.

Just go ahead and write! The important thing is to get the story down. The line is not a major plot point so you really can work around it. Once you start writing you may be surprised what comes out. I know Keaton is surprised at my first pass...

I think the fest is an awesome idea, but if you're trying to get more people to take part, why are you adding requirements like that dialogue?

All three are very stylized and full of attitude and not easy to just fit into a story idea or a style that a writer/director might want to do.

I think the various prop ideas that where used for many contests in a row allow for much more flexibility and creativity.

Anyway, I don't want to be negative. I love the DVXFests and I appreciate how much work they are to put together. I would just like to see them grow and I think these might limitations hinder that.

I have to agree. Since we have so little time to put this fest entry, together making us use TWO lines really makes it a pain. In my case, I can make them fit, but someone doing a romantic comedy or meaningful drama is going to have a hard time using what's offered since they're all rather flippant, wise-guy stuff. If you're going to do this, what not take three different approaches to the lines to give folks a choice? Luckily, I'm making a film with absolutely no socially redeeming value whatsoever.

Doh! I do agree with the other folks about not having the dialogue. However, since my film went from a very "socially aware" film to one with little or no socially redeeming value like taylormade's , I was rather looking forward to using the first sassy pair of lines. :) hahahaha Now I'm excited about what props will be required. :)
