[Driftwood]

A lot of people wanted to know what the hack and decent INTRA patches could do to their GH2 footage. Here, what follows, is a selection from 26 GH2 filmmakers who decided to collectively show off Vitaliy's hack and Driftwood's patch.

The GH2 proves itself very well I think you'll agree.

Driftwood, it would be nice if you uploaded the patch that we could just drop into the top folder of out gh2 SD card so that we could try it out. One that you feel is the best of the Driftwood patch and most reliable, so that us mac users don;t have to go through p-tools to get the patch. Could you do that for us? ANd here....

Hey dustylense. I think the reason no-one in the hack community has made available a hacked firmware file for download is to get around legal issues surrounding Panasonic's intelectual property. That's why we use a tool for personal use. Wiser to just hack it yourself and it avoids the possibility of someone getting sued :laugh:

Even the top brass at Panasonic have expressed admiration for the hack. I don't think it so much of an issue. It has extended the life of the camera and the market for it.

I have my hack installed. I use a mac with ptools opening using Wine. I can't import others patches so I was hoping somebody would just have a text file of all the settings to use for this hack.

dustylense - on a mac use winebottler, the sam-mallery link posted by yoclay above can hook you up

on your mac put the following files in the same folder
• ptool3.exe
• seta.ini (or what ever .ini files you want to use)
• GH2__V10.bin

double click the .exe

load the firmware GH2__V10.bin

use the A, B, C buttons at the bottom to load, A = seta.ini, B = setb.ini, C = setc.ini etc

save

hmm, this is very interesting. I've finished shooting my web series with my AF100 and wont' be needing it for the immediate future. I wonder if now is a good time to sell it and pick up a GH2 with it's current discounts and pop on the hack....

Just wish i knew if something good was coming along the horizon that was affordable and gave me that wow factor that my 7D gave me (minus the aliasing and moire ) I mean i love my af100 to death but it's just missing that something that really does it for me.
